The Best and The Worst

Well, yes it's true, about ten inches of snow over here, though a lot of it's already melted or melting. I don't like that. Snow is just fine, it's the ice I don't like!
So just a couple items, one is that I talked to Sister Howell at zone conference the other day, and she remembered that I had a Downs brother and so she told me to tell you, mom, to call her about some things that has really helped her daughter, Lori Beth, out. You can probably call the office, or Sister Howell’s number.

I was wondering what was going through your mind when the hospital called you, I'm glad that they mentioned that I was there to volunteer right away. (I received a phone call from a lady this week asking for “Daniel’s” social security number. All I could think of was identity theft! After some discussion and confusion, she explained she was calling from a hospital in St. Paul where Logan was going to do some volunteering. I could hear him talking in the background!! And then she said, “Here, do you want to talk to him?” Oh, that was tempting, but both Logan and I said at the same time, “We aren’t allowed to.” Now she was the one confused!)

We saw Habtamu this week, he is doing great! His court date is tomorrow, so keep him in your prayers! When we went to see him, he confided in us that he went and saw a concert the other night. He asked us if that was okay. Haha! I laughed and told him that it was fine! He said it was a big relief because he heard us say that we can't listen to music as missionaries, but misinterpreted it, and felt bad cause he went to a concert! But we got that all cleared up! I made it clear that music is one of the biggest things in my life, and will be after my mission! Habtamu also wanted to know what the job market was like in Arizona, and I told him since I didn't really know, that I'd ask my dad, who would know more than I. So could you get back to me on that, papi?

Not much new really... Transfers are next week on Monday; transfer calls are on Saturday this week.

I did get the package, actually, I got it on Monday right after I emailed, of course. I really enjoyed it, and all the contents have pretty much been eaten haha. The coin is pretty cool actually! I carry it in my pocket now, just for a reminder.

I swear Christmas stuff gets put up earlier and earlier every year! Day after Halloween and BAM! Christmas gifts hit the shelf. Speaking of Christmas, the other Elders and I ate at the Mickey's restaurant in downtown St. Paul! It's the same one in the movie, Jingle All The Way! So it was cool to be there, just so say I've been.

Jason and Anna aren't progressing, so we're going to have to drop them. It's sad cause Jason just wants us to prove to him that the Book of Mormon is true, but we already told him that we can't do that! It's up to God! He said that he won't trust feelings, and that to know truth you can just compare it to the Bible. So he said that he wouldn't pray about it. ahhh.

Plus, another heart break, a recent convert Alex, no longer wants to do anything with the church. We had a lesson with him the other day, though technically he is in the other side of town. He has a bunch of concerns, but I think they stem from the fact that he has transgressed one of the commandments, and the guilt is really working on him. He too refused to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. Talk about heart-wrenching. You really do experience the best and the worst on your mission.

That's really all I have to say today!

Love
ELDER BROOKS
