Well, for Halloween, we went to the Iverson’s for the night and had dinner, and then played the great dalmutio [?]. That was pretty fun! And that was about it. Nothing extravagant, but it was a good experience.
WOW. Dad, that's great!!! I'm so glad to be hearing that you're having some great gospel experiences! While I was reading that, I got the reassuring feeling that even if I didn't have a lot of "success" here, I was/am affecting people hundreds of miles away. Our family is great. Well, your e-mail put me in a great mood! (not that I wasn't already.) I love you guys.
To answer your questions, I don't think I need any Christmas music, my iPod is chuck full of it, remember? ;) I'm doing good on colors for my pencil. I recently think I mastered my scripture marking technique, so I'll have to apply it to my next set of scriptures. Some pages of mine might look really sloppy to someone else, but it all makes sense to me! The important thing is that I can find what I need fast, and I know my scriptures really well.
Speaking of feet, if my feet are going to be beautiful, it would be more appropriate to say, "How beautiful upon the mountains are the thick, heavy, winter boots..." haha, yeah, winter is getting closer, it's great here, fall is hanging on! It's been in the 40's this week, and it's declining fast. Lower 30's by the end of this week... winters-a-comin'!
I had a pretty fun experience this week! I learned to fly! So here's the story:
Elder Hanks and I were cruisin’ down this hill, going 20-25 MPH. I mean, we were keeping up with some cars. After 2-3 minutes, we reach the bottom, and I look up at the street sign, and when I look back down, Elder Hanks had stopped. I had nowhere to go, so I slammed on my brakes as hard as I could, and my front tire caught, and my bike launched me OVER Elder Hanks, about seven feet in front of him! Talk about air time! It was perfect though, landed in soft grass, my bike landed softly, I didn't hit Elder Hanks, it was perfect! I'd do it again any day.
I loved what you said about working with members, cause that really has been my focus with this ward, not to urge them to do missionary work, but to love them into it! I've gotten to know the families pretty well, and just tell them how excited we are to be in St. Paul and how great the work is and things that are happening. People are having missionary experiences, and then we have them bear their testimonies about it on fast Sunday! It's great! The members are steadily more and more conscious of missionary work. They tell us that they are looking out for experiences, and having them. We don’t have to ask them. I'm grateful for the inspiration the Lord has given me as far as that goes.
I finally had a President's interview for the 1st time in months, and I was getting nervous for "the questions." You know, like, "what are you doing for school? work? plans when you get home?" but they never came. That's alright with me cause at this point, I don't know, and he would tell me that that is the wrong answer, haha.
Thank you for your testimony too paps. This email has been really uplifting, and I think that I will go outside afterwards and start talking to people about the gospel. I don't have any time to waste, even if it is P-day!
Love you all Very very much!
ELDER BROOKS
