Habtamu Gets Baptized

Once again, I'm always glad to hear all is well on the home front. Things out here are going great! Habtamu's baptism went through, glad it’s over, that was the most stressed I've ever been in my life. Seriously. And stress is not like me. BUT, our ward mission leader baptized him and Elder Howard confirmed him on Sunday. Sunday night we had a dinner with him at a member's home, and THAT was the sweetest experience of my entire mission. The change in Habtamu in just 24 hours was INCREDIBLE!!! He was way more interactive, smiling more, and just all around happy! He told us that since he's been in the U.S., that he hasn't slept well at all, because he's worried about his wife in Greece and how he is going to get along in the United States, IF he's even going to stay and all these things. But he told us that Saturday night after he was baptized, he slept well. The first night of real sleep in a year and a half. The spirit in that room was so strong from this man's fledgling testimony that it brought tears to my eyes. It's just an experience you can't describe. Lately, Elder Howard and I have shared a lot of sweet experiences together. We never did get along super great, but here, I think we wrapped it up. I think we both learned exactly what we needed to learn from each other today.
Elder Howard is getting transferred to Rochester. I'm getting Elder Hanks from the south side of town who was with Elder Nelson. Elder Nelson is training. Elder Hanks is from Carnation, Washington.

Lately I've been having some great experiences with the Spirit helping me to know what to do and say. I've felt more receptive to the Spirit, or perhaps just in that listening mode, and I've listened and obeyed and the consequences have been great.

The Lord is merciful. That's all I gots to say.

Love you all,
ELDER BROOKS
