This was an alright week too! Didn't really find any new investigators, but did get several referrals from Temple Square, all 5 which are from China originally! Wow. So we have been teaching one girl, Jenny, and last week we brought over Brother Chen, who speaks Chinese, and it went really well. She opened up a lot more, and I didn't understand half of the lesson, but that's alright. What's nice is that we have 3 Chinese speakers in our ward. Coincidence? I think not!
Habtamu is doing great! He didn't make it to church this week, since Saturday was the Ethiopian New Year, and he said he woke up super tired and sick from the food. (By the way, the Ethiopian calendar is now in 2003... they are 7 years behind for whatever reason....) BUT, we did teach him with a member there, and we set a baptismal date for the 2nd of October! He even gave the closing prayer! I feel like he is way solid. Way solid. So humble and ready to learn. He said that his purpose of having us teach him was so he could get closer to God. Incredible! So I'll have more news next week!
Some of the leaves here are turning colors, and it's in the 60's and 70's now (haha). I'm looking forward to Fall a lot!
Well, you can't deny that the R-8 is a way cool car! Dad was asking me the "what’s", not the "hows", right??? Haha, which, I don't remember if I answered that or not. So I will now. I'm looking to go into the medical field. More specifically dentristry. Luckily there are two families out here that I'm close to that I can talk to about it, since they are at different phases of dentistry school. To me, it just sounds like an ideal job, good pay and good time for a family. I have no idea where I want to go to school.
I'll send to you what I sent to Cameron. I read his email first and responded to it first, then read what you sent him afterwards. I thought it was cool that we both mentioned love.
Hey man,
That's pretty rough-sauce. I got angry just reading about it. I think the hardest thing about being a disciple of Christ, not to mention a representative of him, is to turn the other cheek. I haven't ever been robbed, but people always make smart comments at us driving by, I've had stuff thrown at me and been spit at, and I always seem to get mad, at least for a second. I've always found comfort that all we do is just move forward and do the work. In Doctrine and Covenants, the Lord expressly tells us that vengeance is His. I like that statement, because I know that the Lord doesn't like it when His servants are slighted. Just know that the Lord knows what happened, He'll take care of it, and it does present an opportunity to grow. Love or charity is probably the most needed and hardest quality to develop, or so I've found. I've prayed long and hard for it the last year and a half, and I still feel like I'm severely lacking, though I've felt my love grow immensely.
Remain positive my brother, otherwise that robber won. Just let it roll off your shoulders. Crap happens. It was bad when us elders brought someone to church and they stole a member's car! If we remain positive, people notice, and it does rub off on them. At least they didn't steal your clothes from off of your back and gamble for them. Christ knows man. Go to him.
Enough of my soap box preaching though; I hope everything else is going well! How is your comp? Are you still in the same area? I'm still with Elder Howard, and I'll send you my e-mail to mom and dad too, so you can know a little more about what is going on.
