Great Time to Be in MN!

Wow. Talk about surreal. Seeing Weston like that is weird. He's definitely Weston, and definitely a returned missionary. It's kind of weird that I can pick that out too. Looks like he's a pretty humble RM. That's so cool though. I'm glad to hear Trenton came to the open house at least. He's pops into my mind from time to time, and I always wonder how he's doing. Wish there was an easy was to get a hold of him... Ah, it's just weird to think how fast life is changing.
So, the miracle for this week... Habtamu! We weren't able to teach him this week, but we did take him to stake conference on Sunday, and there was a meeting before the actual conference that was geared towards less actives, recent converts and investigators. Elder Gong from the 70's was there in the meeting. President and Sister Howell both bore their testimonies, and so did Elder Gong. Then we went to the normal part of stake conference. It was a good one. Then afterwards, we were talking with Habtamu and asked him what he thought. He said it was good. Then I introduced him to Elder Grondel, and Elder Grondel asked him a few questions about the conference, and right then and there, Habtamu bore his testimony to us that he knew that the church was true!!!! Wow, I'm sure the look on Elder Howard’s and my face was great! We were both grinning from ear to ear, just trying to contain ourselves. Habtamu also told us that he said that he had heard the word of God today. I was ecstatic! And we weren't the only ones that he told those things to either. He talked to bishop and told him the same thing! Wow, it’s great to see the work of the Lord moving forward. Habtamu was already prepared; all we had to do was say hello. I truly just feel privileged to be somewhere where I can see things like this!

So other than that, Elder Howard and I have been getting along a lot better, and we've been working on our diligence more too. Elder Howard is from Portales, NM. It’s on the eastern border of NM, close to Texas. Did I tell you that he's the only active member in his family?! cause he is.

I just can't express with words the great joy I feel in being a part of this work. Everything seems to be going well, and I know that there is always something to improve on, and those things, we're trying to improve on.

We taught Jenny, our Chinese investigator, and she is pretty reserved. We read Alma 32 with her and discussed faith, and also the blessings that come from being a member of Christ's church. We committed her to read and pray. She may be a tough one to teach, but it is a cool experience to see our joint teacher and her speak in Chinese!

It's in the 50's now-a-days, actually, it has been since the first day of September. It's like someone flipped a switch! It's so nice though, it's definitely time for fall. Pumpkin pies, squash, and all those goodies, yum yum.

Well, I hope you have Mormon.org accounts because the website is WAY cool! Elder Howard and I have been having a lot more good conversations with people on the streets. It may not lead to return appointments all the time, but the image of the church is definitely changing. I'm loving it. So next time someone asks you what you believe, you can refer them to mormon.org and tell them to check out your profile!

Great time to be in MN.

Love
ELDER BROOKS
