Wow, websites really slow today... ugh...
Anyways, Things are going excellent!!! I'll start with my most recent news! Umm, not so good first. Well, Jeanie Floyd, the recently activated member and Melissa said they were going to be at our ward Christmas party on Saturday, church and a baptism on Sunday, and they didn't show up to any of them!! We'll see them tonight, and see what the deal is. I have a hunch that Melissa is apprehensive of quitting smoking and doesn't quite want to quit yet.... But, like I said, the South elders, Elder Mangham and Elder Birkel had a baptism; they baptized a guy named Andrew from Sri Lanka! He is way awesome; I was privileged to give him his baptismal interview questions! The service was on Sunday, and we invited Larry to come. He came! The baptism went great, everything was just great. Then during Andrew's confirmation, I could hear Larry next to me, crying. As soon as the confirmation was over, Larry leaned over to me and told me he needed to go, and booked it out the door. Elder Peterson and I looked at one another and chased after him and caught him in the parking lot as he was just about to take off. He said he had a lot of emotions going through him at the moment, and he needed some time to think. So we are going to call him today and see how he is doing. I know for sure that the Spirit touched him during the baptism; it definitely stirred something within him. So, it's a good thing!!! He is very lonely, and has no surviving family members, and we are really going to work to have this ward to be his family. He needs it. So that's my good news!
I've thought about Andy and Brandy too, and they don't have a lot of money at the moment, and I was wondering what I could get them, or you to help them out. They don't really have any Christmas lights or decorations. They probably only have enough money for a tree. I was thinking about making them some cookies or something small like that. I think they'd appreciate it.
Haha, yeah, I guess Cam and I are like the two misers, although, I don't look THAT skinny do I????
Dad, I know who Mitt Romney is. I've had actually a lot of compliments on him before. And I liked how you pointed out that times are getting more perilous, and with the economy like it is, people are beginning to wake up a little bit. I have seen it here more on my mission than ever.
Awww man! No Elvis (at the Ward Party) ?!?! I'm going to have to carry that tradition on! Actually, I've been trying to remember how to play that song, and I can't remember at all... :( I'm actually going to request some guitar tabs from you, only because we'll be spending Christmas Eve with the Severson’s, and they have a guitar and the kids like to hear the songs and sing along, and I need some Christmas songs! In particular, Blue Christmas and Feliz Navidad. Those would be awesome.
BY THE WAY The package you sent is awesome!! I'm going to have some of the hot chocolate today, it looks pretty legit'. So thank you so much. :)
Wow, way to go Maddie! Keep playing piano; I promise you, you will not regret it!! I wish I hadn't quit, I know I could be pretty good right now if I hadn't.... Well, that's good that Maddie is really into music, she takes after her brother who loves music! Yeah, the high school choirs are pretty good, and yes our ward choir is really good as well. :)
As far as strange food goes, I haven't had anything foreign or weird, just bland for the most part. The worst was this chicken that was SO DRY I had to take a drink with every bite and had to force it down my throat. Whew, that dinner was tough. But no, no wierd foods. Have fun Cammy. :)
No Christmas phone call lined up yet, I'll be finding out soon... hopefully. The communication chain in this mission seems to be pretty poor. We always find things out last minute, which is an extreme inconvenience. You’re having Elders over, eh?? Awesome!!! Don't let them play Mario Cart! Haha! That actually is one of my most treasured memories of missionaries!
Well, give Brig a big hug for me, I miss that kid. Actually, we are going over to the Brindley’s for Christmas, and they have a 14 year old son who is autistic. He's pretty funny.
But, that's about it right now. It's seven degrees outside, and on Saturday when it was like 26, I started to sweat haha. That's short sleeve weather!!!
Love you all,
ELDER LOGAN BROOKS
