Yeah, you’re letter on making decisions helped! I'm learning more and more as my mission progresses about decisions and following the Spirit. A sister in the ward talked about spiritual promptings in her testimony yesterday, which was a great testimony except she was revealing a little too much of the temple... (you know I have pet peeves about bearing testimonies...) but she said sometimes we get too much caught up in the logic of things, trying to justify everything. Sometimes we get a thought that is totally illogical, and we think, "Why would I do that? That doesn't make any sense at all! It would be much easier this way," or something to that effect. It reminded me of an experience where I was driving to the gas station by Albertsons, and the light at a particular intersection turned yellow. By all means, I had plenty of time to make it through the intersection, and I put my foot to the pedal to give myself a little more speed. But for some reason, I thought, "Eh, I'll stop," and so I did. The driver on my right decided to proceed through the light and got T-boned pretty hard!! I realized about three minutes later that that would have been me if I had kept going, and who knows what could have happened!! So yes, I'm learning.
Elder Peterson and I are getting busy this week, which is a good thing! We are expecting at least 15 lessons this week, so I'm happy as can be.
Hey mommy! The cookies were great!!! They are a little dried out today, but I'm still having to try and limit myself to one or two a day haha. Those are some of my favorite cookies that you make! They are muy bueno! Luckily, or unluckily, I'm the only one that really enjoys pumpkin cookies out of the 4 elders here!
HAHAHA You had a cold snap and it went down in the 60's!?!?! LUCKY!!! We are having a heat wave here, and it's in the 50's!!!
Wow, Eric Roach is home already.... Wierd. Tell him I say hi! Well, if you think about it, or maybe you don't like to, but I'll have been out for nine months next week. Haha. Wierd. Next transfer is Thanksgiving and Christmas.
WOW!!!! Those pictures that the Elders drew on the sidewalk totally reminded me of David! I really want to do something that requires more effort, something that I can contribute to the mission. I haven't figured out exactly what specifically I can give to the mission that would be unique like that....
My bike is my pride and joy, I love that thing! Just so you know, my bike has been really good to me! Runs like brand new, and overall, it's just a good bike. I'd definitely recommend trek bikes. Wish I new how to better take care of my bike though... I had to mend a hole in my tire yesterday, I don't think it worked though, I don't think I put enough rubber cement on there! Oh, well, I'm still learning!!
Some advice for Ham: Practice making dinner. Have mom give you some of her favorite recipes and make them a couple times. TRUST ME, if you do this, you'll thank me when you're out.
So one of our new investigators is Chris Stone. He has a good Christian family. He is Baptist, and actually is the head music guy at the big Baptist church here in town. Haha, he found out that I love guitar and asked if I was good and if I wanted to play at his church sometime! Of course, I had to decline, but normally I actually might have taken him up on it. So yeah, he is a super nice guy. Of course, he didn't accept the baptismal invite, he already has been baptized and doesn't see the need. He finds some of the things interesting though, and so he wants us to come back and teach him some more. We are hoping that something in the Plan of Salvation rings true for him. But as I've already stated, he is a really good guy, I like him, and have a good felling about him. Other than Chris though, we have three lessons scheduled today, so we'll have to cut our P-day short.
Um.... not much else, EXCEPT we will now be going over to Andy and Brandy's house every night to teach them and read scriptures with them, to help them get into the habit!!!! Brandy is really frustrated though, because she sees Andy smoke, and he takes the sacrament, yet she has to quit smoking to be baptized, and that really frustrates her. Andy... I love the guy, but he is a hindrance to Brandy, just as much as a help too. He just needs to get his butt in gear, and I think we'll stick it to him on the smoking. We need to have a man to man here. I think he respects the missionaries enough and at least myself that we can just get to the "nitty gritty."
So that's what’s going on in the missionary world! Hope the real world is going great! Oh, and by the way, we are all going to see the Largest T-Rex in the entire world today!!! I'll send pics!
