Still Buzzed

Oh MAN. I've still got a buzz from that phone call. Man, what an awesome thing!! Honduras... I do not worry about Cameron at all. As a missionary, as long as you are doing what you are supposed to be doing, I can GUARANTEE you'll be safe. The Lord takes care of those who serve him, believe me, I know haha. He takes good care of His servants.

I'm really excited for you Cam!!! You have no idea how much fun you are going to have how much you'll grow! Just as mission prep class and your life before your mission was prep for your mission, your mission is preparation for the rest of your entire life!!!... So don’t waste it! I'm trying to think of all the things that I wish I knew when I came out and the only thing I can think of at the moment is to check out ecco shoes and their warranty, and definitely hit up goodwill for some ties. :) I just can't get over the phone call!! Haha I really almost didn't pick it up cause I didn't want to be disobedient! I didn't know what was going on though, I was like, oh great, mom's flippin a brick cause my email was short and ended abruptly, and now she has to make sure I'm okay... (love ya mom!)

Oh yeah, about the call… It really didn't make me trunky at all, in fact, it had the opposite effect! I had a bounce in my step all day! In fact, that was the most productive day of the entire week!! We set up four appointments that day, which is a record for me!!! Two were yesterday and they fell through (grrrr) but that's besides the point. We probably found a family to teach!!! Those are the best! So yeah the phone call kinda stirred something in my soul, if you will haha. I think I needed that.

I was so glad to hear Cameron was going Spanish speaking, I was pretty sure he was going to. I was kinda sad though, I thought about it and Cameron and I have shared pretty much everything since we were young. A bedroom, friends, good and bad experiences, the same school, a cell phone, and what have you. But now, we are going to, and are having the best experiences of our lives, and we won’t get to share that in the same way we always have. It'll be through e-mail... LAME. But yeah, All is well!

But yeah, it seems like this is one of those "slow weeks." The only people that we've been able to see are the Severson’s and Don Shelley, the Woodward’s and Andy and Brandy. Don Shelley is an active member who we teach pretty much for practice, and the Severson’s are a less active family who really haven't come to church mostly because bro. Severson works late night shifts. So we began teaching them and committed them to come to church and to go to the temple prep class, and they've been coming to church, this was their second week in a row!!! I love the family though, we did a family home evening with them last week and it went great! So I guess we are seeing success, just not in the ways most people think.

Our other investigators, Sheryl and Charles Elsberee have been crazy busy lately, which frustrates me because that just makes me feel like they are definitely ready for the gospel, are doing well, we wont see them till Friday, but I intend on stopping by once or twice this week to say hello. Please pray for them extra hard, it seems like someone is making their life difficult to hear the gospel, and it's not Heavenly Father!!!

Andy and Brandy are doing well!!! Brandy is still going to the Baptist church, but she still comes to ours too. She is still wishy washy about being baptized, but, they are still set on [quitting] smoking, and I think that is a great step to make!!! With the money they save, they could buy the engagement ring they want to and get married, which will eliminate Law of Chastity issues, furthering Brandy's qualification for baptism! We are working one issue at a time. We still go over at least 3-4 times a week and read scriptures with them. Brandy, I think, is slightly skeptical of the Book of Mormon, but I think that is cause she's still frustrated...

David David David... I miss that guy. Never a dull moment with him, that's for sure. I wrote him a letter last week, or two weeks ago, I wonder if it ever got to him?? I'm glad that he is doing well, I always thought he would. Tell the Daltons I say hi too!

So yeah, thanksgiving was good, I've been having pie with almost every meal now. A definite set back to my...diet haha. Actually, I weighed myself at 190 today. I also made it down one belt notch. And for those of you laughing that I'm dieting, you know who you are haha, I say that you should try mission life out and eat huge meals e'ry day and stay energized, and in the same pants! It's tough! hahaha, I guess Isaiah’s promise is true that the Lord will "make fat thy bones" and also to "Delight in fatness." Haha oh well.

Last thing for Cameron... Set Goals!!! Set goals for what you want to get from your mission and don't be afraid to modify them as needed. Read also Proverbs 29:18.  Well, that's all I can think of for right now, Cameron..... Oh boy.  :)

Love ya all,
ELDER BROOKS
