Well, it seems that we were ALL sick this week!! So Monday was Zone Conference, Tuesday was Zone P-day, and then I got pretty sick on Wednesday and Thursday, so we stayed in to let me rest up. Then we worked Friday, Elder Wardle got sick on Saturday, so we stayed in then too!! We're both just getting better. So yeah, sorry I couldn't e-mail yesterday, it was a holiday, and thusly the library was closed.
That's awesome that you got to go see Brad play! I'm glad he's doing something like a sport. I wish I could go see him play!! Oh well, I guess when I get home I can! Also great to hear that Joni will be attending the temple. What a blessing!! I haven't been for what seems like forever and I wish I was a little closer to it... Oh and for Brad's email address, I think I have it, unless it has changed... What was it again?
My responsibilities as a DL... Did I not explain this already? Thought I did, oh well! Okay, so as a district leader, my main responsibility is to love and serve the Elders in my district, (there are four including Elder Wardle and I) because I have the time to have that closeness with them that President or the assistants or the zone leaders can't have cause they are so busy. I'm supposed to give a quality training on whatever President Howell assigns. I'm to do that once a week. I'm also responsible for collecting the numbers for the 2 companionships (remember one companionship is myself and Elder Wardle) and reporting them to the zone leaders. I also conduct PPI's and arrange exchanges once a transfer and I do conduct baptismal interviews when needed. I think I covered most of my responsibilities there, I was sent a list of them not too long ago...
Yes I agree. Being called as a leader does not mean that you will immediately take that position of leader and do excellent. But whom the Lord calls the Lord qualifies! I will definitely have to watch those other leaders around me. I have the privilege to be working with Zone leaders that live only 3 miles away on pretty much a daily basis. I'll be trying my hardest to fulfill my responsibilities as a district leader.
Well happy Anniversary!! Good to hear you had some time to yourselves that you got to relax!
Well that's a bummer that your kids already had that lesson mom! Well, actually it's really not a bad thing at all that you got to teach them again. Throughout the scriptures we see patterns repeated and Jesus himself often repeats things two sometimes even three times. We learn by repetition! So really, I'm sure a recap just helped out even more! Well, there will always be a sacrifice in every calling... Maybe dad can just come home and teach the lesson to the family! Ha-ha, just kidding. But I think it's be cool to hear one of the lessons too mom, so you're not alone!
Yay! Fall is coming, and some of the leaves on some of the trees are starting to change!!! I'm really exited, cause other than Oregon, this will be my first "real" autumn!! I'm glad to hear it rained!! That is one of my favorite times of year, the monsoon season, and I'm missing it!! And I'm missing it for this mosquito infested place... although it will soon enough be very, very pretty and all the dang bugs will be dead. :)
Well, other than that, this week was very, very. s-l-o-w. Being in the apartment really was pretty boring. We did learn something important though. Elder Wardle and I have been studying the afterlife kinda part of the Plan of Salvation, like from spirit prison to the 3 kingdoms. We are doing this because Diana, one of our investigators had a problem with the three kingdoms. She needed there to be a "hell" for those people that have done wrong. (especially done wrong to her.) We tried to explain that there would be suffering and that hell was more of a state of mind, knowing you could have done better, but didn't, and now it's too late. But as we were studying this topic, I had one of those moments where the Spirit hit me in the head with a 2x4. I was looking up the word "Damnation" and then I thought about it. What does a dam do? It stops the river from progressing, right? Well, if we are "damned" it doesn't necessarily mean that we are going to hell, that lake of fire and brimstone, but it means that our progress has stopped and we can progress no further, hence "no man can have an increase" in the Doctrine and Covenants, I believe. So that was something we were studying this week about "hell" and what it meant. My understanding was really opened a lot more to the plan of salvation as I studied for Diana. I am very grateful for that. :)
But yeah, kinda boring week though....Hope everything is going well for you, Cameron, mucho take it easy, and I love you all!
