A Poor Wayfarring Man

Hello! Well, all is well here in Virginia! David, what a goof. Oh well, that’s what makes him David. That’s exciting that he’s finally leaving on his mission! Weird how we are all growing up and getting old… That’s good that Maddie is in St. George again! Wow, I miss the Milne’s… It’ll be ages before we get to see each other again! Weird, I swore Kyle would have been done by now… Guess I’m wrong. Oh well, that would have been cool to see the old ward in Vegas and see how it’s changed. Haha mom, I wouldn’t worry too much, you for sure do not look fifty!

So Minnesota doesn’t allow fireworks, or at least the county we are in. The Koski’s out here invited us to go out to Lake Vermillion for the fourth of July which would be really fun! The members here are totally awesome; we get taken care of very well. The Alger’s especially! But also the all the Hancock’s (there are like 5 different Hancock families).

Transfers are on the sixth of July…? I think. It’s within a day either direction if I’m wrong. I think I’ll kill Elder Rush. (In missionary lingo that means I’ll be his last companion.). But who knows, anything could happen! But yeah oh man President is sweatin’ bullets cause the transfer that Elder Rush goes home, we are getting about 20 new missionaries!!! That means President needs to find trainers for all of them, and needs to make 10 new areas in the mission!!

I loved the package! Curse, you knew I couldn’t resist Laffy-Taffys! No the digital frame is cool, I wish it held more pictures on the internal memory though, cause I don’t really want to delete any that are on there already… Ah, the humidity hasn’t been too noticeable as of late. The weather cooled down and it’s in the low seventies today! Ahh, so very nice! Hope you’re roastin’ in AZ!! ;)

Yeah, I made sure the money I spent was WELL spent. That rain jacket I got was at like half price from 100$’s so I took advantage of that. The moolah in my account is a last resort if I absolutely have to get something.

That’s awesome that you get all these experiences to share what I’m doing. :) It lets people see that we are actually people too! Yeah, you have no idea how happy it makes us missionaries to see members fired up about the work. Cause NOTHING is more frustrating to me than to see people get up on the pulpit and tell their quorums to home teach, and it doesn’t get done. Or in ward council where missionary work gets discussed, but nothing happens after the meeting, and it’s just a weekly discussion. I guess returned missionaries are very notorious for this, but when I get back, I’m going to do everything to help the missionaries. This gospel is a seven-days-a-week gospel, not just on Sunday. There’s my soap box for the week.

As for bishop… I’m not quite sure I have his address… Would love to have it though! Maybe it was in the address book mom sent me, I’ll double check.

Let’s see… last weekend, there was this festival at one of the parks that happens annually, and everyone in town was all stoked for it. It’s called the Land of the Loon festival. (loon is a kind of duck fyi) But this event turned out to be about three times smaller than the swap meet that happens across the street from us haha… sad.

Oh! I found this tear in my black suit the other day, I was so frustrated!! That’s okay though, Sister Smith, (the Stake Pres’s wife) is going to mend them up for me, I just dropped them off like half an hour ago. :) And also, I was even angrier that a pin fell out of my watchband, and the pin that fell out is a special one, it has a little tiny spring in it, and I can’t find it anywhere, so now I can’t wear my watch… :(

Um…. Tell everyone I say hi, and get Cameron to write me more! He needs to tell me about this “epic night” of cops and robbers that he played with Nate and Danny. Get him on it!

Gees I forget a lot of things in my e-mails! Elder Rush and I sang in sacrament meeting yesterday for the rest hymn! It was pretty cool, I've always wanted to do that! We sang A Poor Wayfaring Man. I sang melody and Elder Rush harmonized (since dad passed on his inability to harmonize well to me... haha). I also got the curse of the unbendable arms from dad... yikes! I think my hair is going to start turning grey and thin out!!!! (That was just for pap's benefit.) Hope all is well, I know the death of Michael Jackson must have traumatized poor Cameron; just tell him time will heal. :P

Love,
ELDER BROOKS
