A Scheduled Baptism!

Hey hey hey!!
Everything is going SO good!! I'll describe my surprise transfer a little better. So yeah, total surprise, President just said he didn't feel right about it, so he made the switch. Elder Rush is way cool!! We get along really well, and we have a lot in common, so it makes it easy to talk and understand each other a little better. His first name is Houston. His parents’ names are Stacy and Darrell.

But Virginia is not too bad! Truth be told, I loved being able to see the lake from everywhere in Duluth, but there are a couple of areas up here that are so amazing! It’s right up by the Boundary Waters, the largest national forest in the U.S. I guess, and it's full of lakes and little islands, it's supposed to be so cool. I'm definitely going when I get off of my mission! Sometimes at night you can see fog creeping across the road, it's pretty cool. The ward likes the missionaries, but we only get fed twice a week by the Alger’s and Bishop and for some reason, everyone else hesitates to feed us... I don't know why, but we're trying to friendship the ward better.

Things around here are now starting to get pretty green. Grass is already growing again, it was amazing how fast it grew after the last snow happened.

Don't worry, I miss EVERYBODY!! I seriously do! I for sure miss all my friends and I miss Cameron, too! But me and Elder Rush listened to some of the music on my ipod, and we REALLY like the group Reprise, especially the song "It Is Well." So we were wondering if there was more of this group we could get a hold of! Also, I would like the Reflections of Christ CD, not particularly the DVD, sorry if I said that. And there is some pretty cool MO-Tab out I guess with some kind of chain gang, soul kinda songs, if you understand what I'm trying to say...

Dang, that's pretty rough for Jay. What a stud though! I hope the letter I sent him will get to him, I sent it to the address you gave me. And an earthquake eh? We actually get some shakes in our apartment every now and then because there is a huge taconite mine right outside of town.

So I guess the swine flu is the next big thing, and I guess it's up in Minnesota now... I'm not too worried, I feel like as long as I'm busy, I've got divine protection. :)
Oh and don't worry dad, it's all good, I mean, I understand your busy, I was just giving you some flak. If you're really busy, you can just shoot me a quick one. It's a shame you didn't win this year, maybe in another two years when I can actually go!! No, of course, there are good days, and there are bad days. We've had some really slow days lately because we don't have very many people to teach. So we tract in the rain!

So we volunteer at this nursing home with all these old ladies, and man, we get some stories sometimes... There was once that this old lady just kept moaning and moaning and saying "oh, help me!" and then she would stop whenever a nurse would come to talk to her... all the other old ladies were just sitting and cursing at her. Oh man, I didn't know old ladies could be like that - haha. But we play Scrabble with them on Wednesdays, and these two ladies we play with tend to school us. We win every once in a while. Other than that, I have not heard from Bradley... Oh and so you know dad, Elder Rush's dad is a Ute! That’s right, graduated from the U of U! Although I don’t think they are very big fans of Rush Limbaugh.

Oh!! Wow! I can’t believe I almost forgot!!!! So the Jensen’s, who we are teaching, the parents are Jesse and Mistee, and the have a son Ty who is less than one, a son Cole who is seven, and a daughter who is 9 I think, but she has had spina bifida since she was born, so she is in a wheel chair and has tubes hooked up to her and a machine breathes for her. This girl wants to make me cry... She has been through countless surgeries and has all these problems, yet I never see her sad! She ALWAYS wears a smile on her face. And she blows kisses to Elder Rush and I when we go over. She is so awesome!

But this family, Jesse the dad has been committed to be baptized on the 23rd of May!!! His one hold up is smoking, that’s why we gave him a little bit of time. Please keep him in your prayers; he will need a lot of help to stop smoking... If he gets baptized, the whole family will follow! I'm so exited for them, they know it’s true, now they just need to go for it, and that's exactly what Jesse is doing!

Thank you all for the many prayers that are said for me, they do lift me up everyday.

With all my love,
ELDER LOGAN BROOKS

P.S. Hope everything is going good, keep being a good girl Madison!

And mom, for goodness sakes, you need to make sure you have a hobbie, so you don't miss me so much! You can't possibly be getting trunky already, cause that means you won't survive two years! And I was thinking you should make a quilt out of all my mission ties when this is all said and done. I know you'd enjoy that!
