More Investigators!

Hello!

Okay, to answer your questions, Letters and packages take about seven days or six days to get to me. I have not mailed notes yet, and to tell you the truth, I won’t ever have time to. I'd like to, but just one is hard to fit in, believe me. Sorry, you'll just have to tell them thank you for me...As for the MTC questionnaire, I have not done that, and I don’t see a ton of point in it, since I've been out of the MTC for a month now... You COULD revise it for the mission field, cause the mission field is WAY better than the MTC anyways! I haven’t cooked any meals yet, once again, it’s busy, and microwave burritos are just too convenient. :P Yes, I go to this college campus to email in the library. You may send pictures; in fact I'd really enjoy pictures!! OH! And I hope Maddie and Cameron aren’t still using dearelder.com to write me cause that will take forever to get to me, and I just got some the other day from them...

Well, I forgot my journal this week, which has all of last weeks events written in it, so I will try to remember to the best of my knowledge. So Barri is still struggling, but we got her to come to church. It's really all on her right now, there is nothing else we can do for her except encourage her. We are going to try and reinforce some things like blessings of living the W. of W. and keeping God's commandments. Rick is doing great, he is such and awesome guy. He wanted to change his answering machine so he had me play a little guitar riff and now that's his answering machine! :P (Don’t worry, it's not against the rules!) But he agreed to come to General Conference on Sunday! We are going over the lessons again right now.

On Friday, there was this ward party fundraiser for the young women, and we were there and there was this auction. Well, some people bought these knit hats for 50 some-odd dollars, and then someone bought a cheesecake for 75 dollars and they gave both to us!! It was so nice! But I offered to do a talent at the thing and so I played guitar and sang (once again, it IS in correspondence to the rules ;) ) I played that one song from August Rush that the dad plays. I actually do wish I knew a hymn or something though, so I didn't have to break the missionary persona or anything...

This week was a lot of tracting and stopping by former investigators and less-actives. Not too much success, but there was success later in the week. I talked to this one guy a couple weeks ago, his name is Bo. I saw him again yesterday and he said he wanted to change his life, and that he wanted to come to church! So now, we have Rick, Barri, and Bo coming to General Conference on Sunday! :D Anyways, we have a return appointment with him next week. We also picked up a new investigator, his name is Derrick. He said he didn't know why there were so many religions and he didn't know which one was right! He is a total Joseph Smith!! So we are going to see him next week too and we'll teach him about the restoration of the Gospel, specifically Joseph smith.

We also taught this one guy in a group home, his name is Frank. We taught him in his apartment, and he told us to take a seat. There were only 3 seats in the room, and my companion took this one chair. Now, Frank has two cats. He doesn't really vacuum his furniture, so the chair I sat in was SMOTHERED in hair... oh my goodness, when I stood up I had it all down my back! Oh well, nothing a lint roller can’t fix!

Last night we stopped by a former investigator, his name is Vlado. He is from Bosnia, Yugoslavia!! So yes, he has a cool accent, and he could pass as the huge Russian guy from Rocky! But he was the nicest guy I've met. Very jolly, I would say. He is at a standstill with religion. He says he is leaning more towards science... the problem is, we can’t really get him to read or pray because he is content with where he is right now. He doesn't have a desire to learn more, so I'd ask you to keep him in your prayers that opportunities may open up for him. We will see him in a couple weeks. He is redoing his back deck and we offered to help and then he said he would fix us some BBQ! You could tell just by looking at the guy that he knew how to make some mean BBQ. :)

Our last investigator is Anthony. Now, Anthony is Native American. We took Freeman, a member in our ward, to go out and teach him with us cause he is Native American, too. So we showed up at his house, and we knew something was wrong, and we figured it out soon. Anthony was drunk. I mean, wasted. He wasn't finishing sentences, he was talking with his hands (some of which I had to bite my lip from chuckling) and then somehow Freeman offended him and Anthony almost got into a fist fight with him and so Freeman left. We got up to leave and Anthony was just telling us not to offend him again. We finally left. This morning, he called us back and apologized to us. He said he couldn't remember anything he said or did, but he knew he had a bad taste in his mouth from that night. He also admitted he had alcohol problems, and he expressed that he wanted to come to church on Sunday!!!! :D Remember, this is the guy that said he wouldn't change for anyone or anything. So now we have four people going to General Conference!

I'm going to try to write Weston soon and I'll need Jay's address! In the meantime, please give them my best!

I love missionary work, and I love the church! I know this has to be true, because a bunch of nineteen year old kids would have normally already screwed this up! But seriously, the Church is true. Joseph Smith DID see the Father and the Son in that grove. How grateful I am to my Father in Heaven for this blessing of the fullness of truth! My heart does truly rejoice in the Gospel, in this work, and in the Savior and His everlasting Atonement. As I have studied the Atonement, I have seen changes in my life. I see myself working towards those Christ-like attributes. I see myself loving others. My pride is torn down, my heart grows, and my soul is filled with Joy! How great is this message that we have: That Christ Lives! That this Church is His!
If we truly believe and we understand, then we have a desire to share it with others! If someone found a cure for cancer, would they keep it? No! And so we must not keep the Gospel to ourselves. I am not perfect. No, I still have trouble talking to people and things like that. I am constantly compelled to be humble and remember my Savior. I can say I am trying my hardest. And that’s what I want for all of you, to share the Gospel and feel the GREAT blessings and joy that come from it. I can promise you that you will NEVER ever regret sharing the Gospel with anyone.

I know without a shadow of a doubt that this Church is true. I know I am doing what the Savior would have me do. I didn't mean for my testimony to turn into a lecture, I just love this work... With love,
ELDER LOGAN BROOKS
