Crazy Excitement!

Alrighty.... So, this was pretty much like reading my mission call! About 20 elders, us ten greenies, and about 10 trainers were in this room in the church, and President and Sister Howell read the descriptions you made for all of us. Sister Howell started crying a bit when it mentioned everything I've done with Brigham. :) (Just a little side note . . . President and Sister Howell have a thirteen year old daughter with them that has Down syndrome, which we, of course, think is very cool!)

But out of those other 10-12 elders that would be trainers, none of them would be my companion!!! They said that he was too far away to come to this transfer! I will be serving in the Duluth, Twin Ports area! It's right where Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Lake Superior meet!! Apparently, I'm extremely lucky to be going there on my first transfer, because it's one of the most coveted missions, save for Thunder Bay and Rochester, I guess! But they're all supposed to be absolutely beautiful! My zone is the biggest of all the zones... it's pretty massive, and from here in Bloomington, it's about a three hour drive just to get there. Elder Myers, (not the Elder MEYERS who was with me in the MTC) who I met, is going to Thunder Bay. It's a seven hour drive!!! I'll be leaving about four o'clock.

Okay, but now on to the even crazier.... You have no idea... My head is spinning like crazy right now!! When I came out of the building, all these missionaries were standing there going to their transfers, and you'll never ever ever ever guess who I saw....... Oh my goodness, it's not even right, it's so insanely crazy!!! Do you remember Darren Zwiefel?!?! He's serving a mission in Minnesota!!!! He was pretty stoked to see me, since we haven't seen each other for like, what 5 years?? Hahaha its so crazy! I'm still laughing!

But Duluth is way colder than down here too I guess. But honestly, I LOVE the weather right now. 30 degrees and I'm perfect with just a suit coat on. :) Dad, you would be crying in your oatmeal though. Haha jokin, but uh, I'm serious about those missionary moments. Dad, I know that you felt joy on your mission. You know it's different than happiness. There is nothing saying that the Lord hasn't prepared someone for our family to introduce to the gospel in Mesa! I especially want Cameron to feel that feeling like I have just begun to feel. Cameron, you do NOT know what true happiness is yet! :) Winning State in football AND wrestling?? No!! That would be so small compared to your mission, I PROMISE you.

Hope all is good Maddie, I'm sorry I didn't get to talk to you for very long last night, I'm just soo busy! Make sure you are being nice to mom and dad, haha okay? And help Cameron with Brigham if he needs it, cause Cameron is going to get a whoopin' from Brigham! ;)

Oh!! I cant believe it! I almost forgot, my companion and trainer is Elder Tuler. (too-ler) I haven't met him yet, I just talked to him briefly on the phone, I'll meet him tonight. :)

Say hi to aunt Chelsea for me too, I dont think I'll be able to write them. Send my regards.

But my mission is already so awesome!!! It will take me a while to get over my fear of talking to people, cause I hate getting yelled at or rejected. But I thought about that this morning, and I said to myself, "Christ was spit upon and rejected and scorned while He was carrying His own heavy cross on His back, so I can be rejected and scorned while I carry his ever-so-light message in my heart..." I try and think of the Atonement everytime I get discouraged. I love my Savior. If I get discouraged, I also try and pray and thank God for my trials, because in all my hardships, his hand is most needed, and will appear. As Audri was telling me, He always comes in the "Fourth watch".... or "hour". I cant remember which one.

Stay in touch/take care.

Love you all SO very much,
ELDER LOGAN BROOKS

  3. Cool Cool Cool! I love the letter. A little fact about Lake Superior. It is so big, that if the United States were flat and they drained Lake Superior, it would cover the United States in two or three feet of water. Learned that when we went to Duluth with our friends President and Sister Evans.
